I support many of the rescue and adoption organizations in the Birmingham area. One specific organization that touches my heart is the local chapter of Great Dane Rescue, Inc. I got my first Great Dane almost two years ago and have fallen in love with this amazing breed. I’ve been able to help this rescue organization by providing professional images of their foster dogs, volunteering event photo sessions and donating silent auction items for their fundraisers. I published an article in woof! magazine about Helen Keller, the blind and deaf rescued Dane who just happened to be my Charlie’s litter mate. Click here to read the article on P27 – it has a wonderful happy ending!
My love of dogs in combination with my pet photography business provides me with a service that I can give to these organizations who depend solely upon the monetary donation and time of others. I regularly donate photo sessions and large gallery wrapped canvas prints as silent auction items to animal fundraiser events including the GBHS’ Fashion Show and Jazz Cat Ball, Hand in Paws’ Picasso Pets, The Animal League of Birmingham’s Mardi Paws, and Weimaraner Rescue of the South’s Weim & Cheese fundraiser.
I am committed to the belief that animals are a vital link to our understanding human relationships, and can provide great comfort and teaching if given the opportunity. My Delta Registered Shih-Tzu Millie and I are involved with Birmingham’s Hand in Paw Animal Assisted Therapy non-profit organization. As a therapy team, we visit at-risk teens as well as nursing home residents and are constantly reminded how important this human/animal bond is in our daily lives.
If you are associated with a Birmingham area animal shelter or rescue organization that may benefit from my pet photography, please have them contact me via email at liz@lizyoungphotography.com.
